First Annual Brave Day of Giving

The Indian Hill School District will launch the first annual Brave Day of Giving on Friday, September 29, in an effort to target private donations to support funding for a potential new fieldhouse that will serve the entire school district community. Every resident living within the district will receive a postcard with a QR code that will access the donation portal, managed through the Indian Hill Foundation.

“We have such gratitude for this wonderful community we call home; we want to create this state-of-the-art facility to serve all members of our Brave Family, which includes all of the residents who live in the district,” said Indian Hill School District CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “We have secured commitments for private donations to fund around half of the anticipated $10 million project; this is a way for every community member to be a part of the initiative in any capacity they can.”

Initial fieldhouse designs anticipate a 30,000-plus square foot facility, with up to four additional basketball/volleyball courts; the ability to play indoor tennis/pickleball; a multi-purpose flooring which will serve most sports to include cheer, field hockey, volleyball, tennis, soccer, football, basketball, baseball, softball, and lacrosse; an elevated track that will serve cross country, track & field, and team conditioning; and a space for the community to exercise indoors.

“We want the new fieldhouse to provide easy access to our other outstanding outdoor facilities and to serve as a recreation game space on the weekends, helping us to adjust the practice times for all of our students,” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Brian Phelps. “This additional space will not only serve as a premier facility for our student-athletes, it will also be a true community center for our neighbors.”

Phelps presented design concepts and an overview of private donations already secured to the Indian Hill Board of Education; members made the decision to share the aspirations broadly to help garner private donations still needed. The Brave Day of Giving, while earmarked this school year for the #FundTheFieldhouse project, will continue each year with a targeted goal. Residents can donate via the online portal when they receive their postcards.
