Indian Hill to implement Plan A beginning January 11, 2021

The decision has been made to begin our Plan A in-person learning model effective Monday, January 11, and we plan to remain in five-day-a-week in-person learning.

Please note: The switch to in-person learning means campus will be open, and Indian Hill will once again participate in regularly scheduled athletics and activities.

Our top priority is always the well-being of our students and our staff. Because of the investment our District made in COVID-19 safety, we feel confident we can return to Plan A.

This decision was made, in part, as a result of new COVID-19 quarantine guidance being communicated by the Hamilton County Health Department and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), which includes the following for K-12 education:

• If a student or teacher is exposed in the classroom setting to someone with COVID-19, quarantine is not recommended for the exposed individual as long as masking and other appropriate protocols were followed.
• Quarantine continues to be advised for anyone who is exposed in the classroom if protocols have not been followed (e.g., students or adults in the classroom did not properly wear masks or in cafeteria where masks cannot be worn).
• Quarantine also continues to be advised for anyone exposed during extracurricular activities, including sports, regardless of masking or other protocols. Revised guidelines above only apply in classroom settings.
• In all cases of potential exposure, consult with the local health department for guidance.

If a student or staff member is a close contact to a positive individual outside the classroom or within their household a quarantine may still be necessary. ODH has provided an update to the number of quarantine days required. Click here to view those details.

Prior to winter recess, quarantines and absences had serious impact on our staff levels across the District straining our operations impacting both classroom instruction as well as District transportation. These recent updates will have a significant, positive impact on our ability to operate as a District.

You can access the details of our operations within Plan A on our COVID-19 District Operations 2020-2021 School Year web resource located within the “Students & Parents” section of our District website. Should you have any specific questions, please contact your building principal.

PickUp Patrol
We ask for your continued partnership in safety during Plan A operations. We will again require the use of our use of PickUp Patrol beginning Monday, January 11. We appreciate your diligence in completing these important safety questions prior to coming to school daily.

Brave Virtual Academy
Students in Brave Virtual Academy will remain within this program with no changes to their educational programming. We do ask that you continue to report all positive cases by calling our COVID-19 Hotline at (513) 272-9698.

We will continue to closely watch and assess the COVID-19 situation during the upcoming weeks and provide you any necessary updates. Future communication will only be issued if the District determines a need to switch from Plan A.

Again, you will return in Plan A Monday, January 11, 2021.

As always, we appreciate your partnership as we navigate these unprecedented times.

In service to our children,

Kirk Koennecke
Superintendent
Indian Hill School District
