Indian Hill School District AED Safety

A message from Athletic Director Brian Phelps on AED use and locations

We’ve seen recent headlines about the importance of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the news, and we want all members of our Brave Family to be up-to-date on how we utilize these important safety devices across our campus.

The Indian Hill School District ensures that AEDs are available at every athletic event on campus. All AEDs within the Indian Hill School District are located strategically in pre-designated locations across campus that allow for quick access during all athletic events. Additionally, Indian Hill has an Emergency Action Plan for every athletic venue on campus, that includes the use of AEDs. Our coaches are trained using the Emergency Action Plan.

The Indian Hill Athletic Department requires AED training for coaches of all OHSAA athletic teams in grades 7-12. We have two athletic trainers equipped to use AEDs and additional AED-trained personnel on campus.

To help you understand how our AEDs operate, and to help you gain a visual for the locations you can find our AEDS, our IH Sports Media students, in conjunction with our Indian Hill Television Network (IHTN), produced a video. Click here to watch.

You can count on your Indian Hill Athletic Department to always keep the safety of our student-athletes as our top priority.

Please contact me directly should you have any questions.

Dedicated to the success of our Braves,

Brian Phelps
