Sue Harder Memorial Performing Arts Center

Sue Harder

A message from the Indian Hill Foundation

The Indian Hill Foundation is proud to accept a first-of-its-kind generous gift to benefit the students of the Indian Hill Public School District for generations to come. The District is recognizing this landmark gift with the honor of naming the newly remodeled theater complex, the “Sue Harder Memorial Performing Arts Center”.

Sue Harder was a longtime, dedicated volunteer to the district. She gave her time to the Booster Board and supported the theater and musical arts programs while her two children were attending IH schools from 1998 up until 2015.  She was also involved with the Boy Scouts, After Prom, and varsity sports teams. Sadly and tragically, Sue passed away from a sudden illness on January 11, 2021.

Friend Jennifer Herron Lightcap states, “Sue was the kind of volunteer who would do whatever was asked because it was the right thing to do.  She worked on projects that not only benefited her own children, but also many others.” She had a full-time career with Humana, but volunteering was her passion. Lightcap adds, “She was the embodiment of being kind, thoughtful and selfless.”

Sue was also an avid runner and was very involved in the running community.  Led by her son, Daniel, “Run4Sue” was created with Sue’s many friends to promote the “Sue Harder Memorial 5K” held every October to celebrate her life and positive influence in the lives of so many. Proceeds have supported 1N5 and the local Girls On The Run organization.

Lori Klinedinst, IH Foundation Executive Director, shares, “We have been honored to work with the donor on this important gift and unique opportunity to pay tribute to a giving member of our school community.”  Kirk Koennecke, IHSD CEO/Superintendent adds, “The District is honored by this unrestricted gift and the spirit in which it is given: for the student experience in memory of an individual who exemplified community involvement for the greater good."

Honoring Sue’s legacy of volunteerism and selfless commitment serves as a reminder to all of the qualities that make our district community so strong.

The new “Sue Harder Memorial Performing Arts Center” will have its official dedication ceremony just prior to the initial production of “Frozen” on Saturday, December 9.
