Sphero Robots were an approved Innovation Grant and were added to active instruction this school year.
Students in Jessica Brown’s 7th grade math class used the Spheros to explore the concept of unit rates in regards to speed and its relation to distance and time. After programming and collecting data on time and distance, student calculated the speed of their robot. This information helped each team to prepare their robot for an archery competition that required them to use their knowledge of unit rates and data collected in order to get closest to the bullseye. Two teams hit the bullseye which was only 6 inches wide at nearly 30 feet away from the starting line and all teams had a great time during the competition! - Ashley Morrison, MS Math teacher
