Taking On the World: Indian Hill High School Model United Nations Team

The Indian Hill School District celebrates the Indian Hill High School Model United Nations (UN) team after students traveled to Wyoming High School to participate in the Model UN Competition on Saturday, October 28. Indian Hill High School student Samantha Kayne was awarded the Outstanding Delegate Award for her advocacy on behalf of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the UNICEF committee.

“We are incredibly proud of Samantha and all of our students who have committed to learning and growing their global awareness,” said Indian Hill High School Principal Jeff Damadeo.

During the Model UN Competition, students were assigned a country to represent in a committee that functions just like the actual United Nations and participated in a debate concerning international geopolitical topics. The UNICEF committee, for example, addresses children's rights and wellbeing. Other committees tackled crises in cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence.

The Indian Hill High School team continues to grow and add competitions to their schedule. Last year, the team traveled to Wright State University and Miami University to compete. Indian Hill High School Model UN team members include: Milana Barrett, Joel Behrmann, Mia Bolden, Jenna O’Driscoll, Gea Eshleman, Justin Gao, Yvonne Gao, Liz George, Ricardo Gomez-Nieves, Jolyne Gunadi, Tinsley Haynie, Anna Johnson, Samantha Kayne, Alyssa Kerr, Lily Mitchell, Benny Schwartz, Dany Doblado, and Sarah Yue.
