Indian Hill High School student selected as a Finalist for the Overture Awards

The Indian Hill School District celebrates Indian Hill High School student Lillie Waltz for being named as a finalist in the creative writing category of the prestigious Overture Awards through the Cincinnati Arts Association. Waltz, celebrated for her exceptional talent and creativity, has distinguished herself among her peers with her compelling work, As I Live and Breathe. This significant accomplishment places Waltz among the top young writers recognized in this year’s Overture Awards, highlighting her potential and passion for creative writing.

“This is a short prose piece exploring the unlikely connection between two women, one young and one old,” said Waltz of the selection.

“We are immensely proud of Lillie for reaching the finals in such a competitive and respected category,” said Indian Hill Arts and Activities Director Amy Clark. “Lillie’s ability to capture and convey complex emotions and narratives through her writing is truly exceptional. We eagerly anticipate her future contributions to the arts.”

The Overture Awards is renowned for recognizing and supporting outstanding young artists in the Cincinnati area across six artistic disciplines: creative writing, dance, instrumental music, theater, visual art, and vocal music. The competition provides scholarships and opportunities for young talents to further their education and careers in the arts.

According to their website, the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) is dedicated to supporting and promoting a wide range of artistic ventures in the Cincinnati area. By providing educational programs, supporting local artists, and hosting a variety of performances and events, CAA aims to enrich the cultural landscape of Cincinnati and foster a lifelong appreciation of the arts. Winners of the Overture Awards will be celebrated at the final competition, which will take place live on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
