Indian Hill School District celebrates Global Culture

Global Fair

Diversity is a celebration at the Indian Hill School District – and it is a week-long party that happens each year. During the week of January 22-26, every building across our campus honored the more than 40 different nationalities that comprise our amazing district. Global Cultural Celebration Week happens at each of our buildings and in partnership with our Indian Hill Global Group – a parent-based group supported by the Indian Hill PTO. Our students, grades K-12, will enjoy a week-long cultural learning adventure that culminates in the BIG event – our Global Fair, which took place Friday, January 26 at Indian Hill Middle School. Here is a look at how we celebrated culture:

Indian Hill High School (IHHS)
This year, our ninth grade English Language Arts and Modern European History classes, along with help from our Global Cultures class, created a Project Based Learning experience diving into the a plethora of countries and historical moments that have impacted their culture, economy, demographics, position in global markets and state of governments. These projects can be viewed within the Social Studies wing of our building.

Indian Hill Middle School (IHMS)
Indian Hill Middle School was excited to host the Global Fair on January 26, when all of our students will get to experience the celebration in their Social Studies classes. Throughout the week, students learned interesting insights and facts from around the world and participated in  various activities to explore with their Social Studies teachers.

Indian Hill Elementary School (IHES)
Every morning our IHES students participated in a morning meeting with their class. During this special week, all morning meetings were focused on increasing awareness and understanding of countries and cultures of the world. Students also had access to a Global Week website that offered opportunities for various global activities. Morning announcements showcased countries and cultures and offered a moment for international music appreciation.

Indian Hill Primary School (IHPS)
For our youngest Braves, daily morning meetings focused on increasing awareness and understanding of countries and cultures of the world. Additionally, all students accessed global read alouds that highlighted cultures from every continent. Exploring the world through literature is a great way for young students to connect as global citizens.

We sincerely thank the Indian Hill Global Group for making this celebration possible for our students each school year. We are fortunate to be a part of a community that is infused with such global diversity!
