Indian Hill High School DECA among elite programs recognized

DECA Officers

The Indian Hill School District celebrates the success of Indian Hill High School (IHHS) DECA teams for two significant recognitions. IHHS students were among 645 chapters that achieved Thrive Level recognition during the 2023-2024 school year and will be commended at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) held April 27-30, 2024, in Anaheim, California. Additionally, IHHS students were recently awarded the DECA Chapter Achievement Award for the 2023-2024 school year.

Thrive Level Recognition
Each fall, DECA offers four campaigns for chapters to complete as part of their program of leadership for the year. These campaigns are designed to grow membership engagement and build lasting partnerships within the school and local community. In order to receive Thrive Level recognition, the chapter completed two out of three chapter campaigns, including the community service campaign, ethical leadership campaign, and promotional campaign.

The Indian Hill DECA members who contributed to the Thrive recognition were Sophia Chen, Anya Govil, Drew Boylan, Kaylie Withers, and Jackson Kaster with the assistance of their advisor, Susan Schonauer.

“Our marketing and DECA students participate in many events throughout the school year and Sophia Chen, one of our two DECA State Officers and the PR Representative for the state, coordinated the events into this Chapter recognition,” said Schonauer.

Achievement Level Recognition
Each fall, DECA recognizes leading chapters that have built strong local programs focused on serving an exceptional number of members, advisors, alumni and business partners. These chapters and individuals dedicate their year to academic and career preparation, community service projects, membership recruitment, school outreach activities and other DECA-related endeavors. The chapter’s advisor and student leaders have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to DECA.

“The students, administration, and community of the Indian Hill School District have embraced the opportunity for education that includes a level of work-based learning and career exploration that is provided by the DECA program. The partnership with Great Oaks Career Campuses helps provide these learning opportunities,” said Marketing Instructor Phil Said.

Of the 3,800 DECA chapters, only 789 chapters earned recognition in DECA’s chapter campaigns and only 986 chapters earned recognition in DECA’s membership campaign.
