In a vibrant fusion of creativity and compassion, the Indian Hill High School Visual Arts Club has unveiled a beautifully reimagined donation house in the school’s main lobby – a project aimed at reviving the Pop Tab Collection Program for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Cincinnati. Over the course of the school year, Art Club members dedicated an hour each week after school to breathe new life into the wooden donation box. The result? A bold, artistically transformed donation house now proudly stands near the high school’s front entrance.
“Revamping the wooden house that holds the pop tab donations has been a labor of love and a wonderful outreach service project for our Visual Arts Club members,” said Indian Hill High School art teacher Kim Richardson, who advises the Visual Arts Club. “For one hour after school each week, Art Club has been having a great time working on this pop tab house, painting both the exterior and the interior—even adding shingles to the roof! As the advisor, it’s been awesome to see so many students come together in a collaborative effort to create something beautiful that will help raise money for families in need.”
The Pop Tab Collection Program benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities, which supports families with critically ill children receiving treatment in Cincinnati hospitals. Donated aluminum tabs are recycled, with proceeds going toward the care and comfort of these families during difficult times.
Vivian Jenkins, Co-President of the Visual Arts Club, reflected on the impact of the project: “I loved seeing everyone represented in this project, each with their individual styles, come together to make something unique and special.”
The new house is now actively collecting pop tabs, and Braves are encouraged to contribute by simply dropping tabs into the roof slot.
“This project is a powerful example of how the arts can inspire change,” said Indian Hill High School Principal Andy Gruber. “Not only did our students use their talents to create something visually engaging, but they also reignited a meaningful charitable initiative that directly supports children and families in crisis. It’s a beautiful reminder of the purpose and power of service learning.”
