Selective Service System
The Selective Service System is an independent agency of the U.S. government that maintains information on those potentially subject to military conscription (the draft). While there is no active draft in the U.S. today, the Selective Service ensures that the nation can maintain a fair and equitable system for quickly mobilizing manpower in case of a national emergency.
