The Mission of the Indian Hill Foundation (the “IHF”) is to innovate, accelerate and enrich the learning and engagement in our classrooms and beyond and strengthen the connections between the district and the community.  The Foundation achieves its purpose by building philanthropic resources in partnership with alumni, parents, students and the community.

Overview:    The Executive Director reports to the IHF Board of Directors (the “Board”) and is responsible for execution of the IHF Mission. S/he is responsible for planning, directing and implementing philanthropic activities to support educational initiatives above and beyond those the Indian Hill School District (the “District”) can afford on its own to provide. The Executive Director will carry out the policies established by the Board and have overall responsibility for the selection, evaluation, implementation and expansion of programs.

Key Functions:

Philanthropic Development

    Serve as the “face“of the IHF with donors, stakeholders and community leaders
    Enhance the IHF’s image by being active and visible in the community; create and cultivate connections with other nonprofit leaders, donors, partners and anyone who has an interest in the Mission of the IHF
    Manage the flow of funds to ensure the IHF is advancing its Mission (donations are ending up in the intended place)
    Engage IHF Board, individual donors, and corporate partners to raise funds for current and future programs and activities
    Plan and direct fund development programs in the areas of annual giving, corporate giving, estate planning, grants, memorials and honorariums
    Cultivate and steward a portfolio of major gift donors and qualified prospects to support board approved IHF initiatives.
    Actively engage and energize IHF volunteers, board members and event committees to raise funds
    Supervise the maintenance of accurate records for all fundraising activities, donor gifts and sponsors
    Acknowledge donors by providing appreciative follow up and ongoing communications
    Submit grant requests and reports to private foundations as to enhance the IHF Mission
    Execute donor retention standards as outlined in the IHF strategic plan
    Comply with all relevant tax reporting requirements and audits
    Work with the team to develop and produce communications, social media, etc. to educate teachers, parents, donors and the community about the Foundation, special events and programs
    Create Foundation/programs awareness through presentations to businesses, school organizations, community organizations and individuals

 
Programming
 
    Collaborate with the District Superintendent to identify District funding priorities and programs
    Ensure programs are in line with the Mission of the IHF
    Work with the District (administration and support groups) and Foundation Teams to monitor the management of all programs and services of the Foundation
    Utilize effective and efficient systems to regularly evaluate program success
    Improve/enhance program-delivery through existing partnerships and collaborations
    Supervise and coordinate the planning and execution of activities and events
    Supervise IHF’s role in Capital Campaigns
 
Administration and Operations

    Set the tone and culture for the IHF team; focus on learning and development, regular staff meetings and adherence to core values
    Maintain files and software systems to support all projects and program operations, including a Foundation fundraising database and an alumni database
    Work in conjunction with the Treasurer and Finance Committee to develop and administer the annual budget. Monitor financial reports and monthly financial statements to ensure budget parameters are met
    Supervise team
    Supervise volunteers
    Work with the Board to develop and execute the Foundations strategic plan
    Work with the Board to recruit volunteers to serve on the Board and/or committees
    Attend Board meetings and prepare reports, set agenda with President, follow-up with IHF team
    Develop teamwork among Board members, volunteers and District staff
    Maintain an active succession plan for Board members and IHF team
    Plan, direct and supervise the production of all IHF publications
    Work with the President to plan the Foundation’s Annual Retreat

Qualifications
 
    Bachelor’s degree required
    Minimum of five years of professional experience– preferably all, or part, in non- profit sector
    Experience in financial, personnel, program administration and office management
    Entrepreneurial mindset…self-motivated, innovative
    Strategic and goal oriented
    Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and inter-personal skills
