The lucky number is 13 for Indian Hill students selected to perform with the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) All- State Band, Orchestra, and Choir for 2022! Students selected for the All-State ensembles will perform at the 2022 OMEA State Conference, which takes place the first weekend in February in Cleveland.

The complete list of Indian Hill High School students performing includes:

Band:
Jessie Chan, Grace Zhou (alternate)

Orchestra:
Kate McGrath, Elsa Zhou (alternate)

Choir:
Connor Coffman, Joshua Knehans, Miles Taylor, Hayden Longbottom, Emma Stacey, Hrishi Rawat, Joseph Kayne, Claire Hardek, and Sarika Singh

“We are so incredibly proud of our vocalists,” said Indian Hill High School Director of Vocal Music Jeff Clark. “This is a record high number of accepted students for our high school, and they are representing the pinnacle of vocal achievement in the state of Ohio!”

Each student applied in May of 2021 by sending in a recording of a solo piece from the OMEA solo and ensemble contest repertoire. Students were selected by a blind audition process from across the entire state.

“After a rigorous process, the most talented musicians in Ohio have been selected to perform with the OMEA All State Band and Orchestra,” said Indian Hill School District Orchestra Director Trista Emmons. “We are thrilled that our students will represent Indian Hill and have the opportunity to make music at an elite level.”

One Indian Hill High School band musician will be making a return trip to perform, Jessie Chan. Director of Bands Don Barker said, “Jessie is a talented musician and an incredibly hard worker. She has shown tremendous growth since her freshman year. We are very proud.”
