ENGINEERING A BRIGHT FUTURE: Jena Bennett

(L to R) Jena Bennett, Jenny Zhang, Kevin Lewis, Caleb Zender

Within the Class of 2021, there are five students who have each dedicated four years of study to the field of engineering through Indian Hill High School’s nationally recognized engineering program offered in partnership with Great Oaks. We want you to meet those students and hear directly from them how this unique educational offering has helped shape their future plans.

Meet Jena Bennett, Indian Hill High School Class of 2021

Future: I plan on studying chemical engineering at Rose-Hulman after graduation.

I selected engineering to study because I really enjoyed math and science classes in elementary and middle school. I was also in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) in middle school and thought I’d just continue on that path.

The past four years, this class has helped me to focus because it is fast paced and involves a lot of independent work.

My favorite engineering moment was building the rube Goldberg machines. That was a really fun project and different than other projects we’ve done.

I would tell other students that this is a really good course if you are interested in exploring engineering. The classes show many different types of engineering and uses programs that are common for most engineering disciplines.
