Indian Hill Class of 2023: Make History

Kirk Koennecke

Indian Hill High School Class of 2023:

It has been quite a ride.

You’ve brought good vibes to our Indian Hill High School campus over and over, throughout a unique and wondrous high school experience. You observed history; you made history; and now you become a part of history.

In this moment, I ask you: Where are you going?

Are you taking a plane, a train, or an automobile? Who is on your playlist? What are you taking with you?

More importantly: Who or what will you lead?

Wherever your destination, your compass is the key. And it is inside you.

In school, as in life, we often find that directions to our destiny look more like winding roads, with lots of hills and valleys, curves and lane changes. Our ethics and morals help us navigate the ups and downs, and the occasional pit stops. Our beliefs shape the climate and provide the winds at our back, or in our face. The vistas along the way are a mixture of the trials and the tribulations that shape our values – shape us as human beings – forever.

Over time, we see the trend line of our life, hopeful in a sunrise, and satisfied at sunset. If we are lucky enough, we get to share those views with those close to us.

Take time now to reflect on the road behind you, and the marks you left. Be proud of the relationships and learning that led you here.

As you drive ahead, lead in three ways: Listen more than you talk when faced with challenges; serve others by giving them your time; give the highest level of value to those you lead; and, when tomorrow comes, don’t look back. You are not going that way!

So, whether you’re off to become a Tiger, a Cardinal, or a Musketeer; a Trojan, a Demon Deacon, or a Buckeye; make history.

And remember, you are, and always will be a Brave.

Dedicated to your continued success,
