Indian Hill School District awarded funds in Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program

The Indian Hill School District is pleased to announce both Indian Hill High School and Indian Hill Primary School were awarded a combined nearly $200,000 in grants as part of the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program. This is the third grant awarded to the Indian Hill School District this year to enhance safety. In May, Indian Hill Elementary School was awarded a $100,000 grant to enhance security at the building entrance.

“We have no greater priority than the safety of our students and our staff,” said Indian Hill CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “This is true for our Board of Education, our administration, and our community. When our community-based Facilities Assessment Committee researched upgrades to our facilities prior to the current construction projects across our campus, safety was the No. 1 area of consideration.”

The grants are part of a $100 million Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program. Funds will be used to cover expenses associated with physical security enhancements such as security cameras, public address systems, automatic door locks, visitor badging systems, and exterior lighting. According to the official news release, the $57.8 million in grants just announced were awarded through a competitive process to public school districts and chartered non-public schools, with a maximum award of $100,000 per school. The grant program is administered by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission in partnership with the Ohio School Safety Center.

“We are always looking for cost-saving opportunities and to be excellent stewards of the investment our taxpayers make in our schools,” said Indian Hill CFO/Treasurer Mick Davis. “We are pleased Indian Hill was selected as a part of the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program, and we will continue to look for ways to operate in a fiscally responsible manner while maintaining the excellence our community both expects and deserves.”
