Indian Hill celebrates student-athletes with signing ceremony

Five Indian Hill High School (IHHS) student-athletes took center stage at the IHHS Gym for a celebration Wednesday, March 22 to commit to continue both academic and athletic careers beyond high school during a college signing ceremony. Participating students included seniors Kira Ericsson, Alex Hansen, Alexandra Sheldon, Jonah Waltz, and Skyy Williams.

“Top six percent in the country – that is how elite these incredible student-athletes are who have earned the opportunity to advance athletic careers at the collegiate level,” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Brian Phelps. “This is a moment to cherish with their peers, their coaches, and their supportive families who helped create the opportunity for this level of outstanding achievement.”

Kira Ericsson, Pepperdine University - Soccer
“Thank you to my teammates, coaches, and friends for supporting me and helping me reach my goal of playing division one collegiate soccer. A special thanks to my parents who were my biggest supporters throughout the process.”

Alex Hansen, Centre College - Baseball
“I would like to thank my family, teammates, and coaches for helping me achieve my dream of being a collegiate athlete. A special thanks to Coach Daniel and Coach Delaet for pushing me to the next level and making me the player I am today.”

Alexandra Sheldon, Vanderbilt University - Cheerleading
“I am really looking forward to being a part of the Vanderbilt Cheer Team where I can use my leadership skills and athleticism to promote enthusiasm, school spirit, and a sense of community. I want to thank the Indian Hill Cheer Team and Athletic Department, Cincinnati YMCA Gymnastics, and my teachers, friends, and family for encouraging me to grow as a person, student, and athlete, which made this next step possible for me. I also want to give a special thanks to my mom for supporting me through everything and always encouraging me to be my best self. Go Dores!”
