The Indian Hill School District celebrates Indian Hill Middle School teacher Sandy Gemmel, who was named a 2022 Master Teacher Finalist by the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, and was one of eight educators in Ohio to earn a peer-voted Award of Excellence in Teaching through the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation.

“Sandy Gemmel loves our students and works tirelessly to ensure they are the best they can be in all they do; that desire to help students grow drives every decision she makes and has impacted our entire District positively,” said Indian Hill Middle School Principal Jennifer Ulland. “We are incredibly fortunate to have Ms. Gemmel as part of our Indian Hill Middle School team, and we are thrilled her dedication to students is being recognized through this honor.”

“I am truly grateful and honored by this award,” said Gemmel. “Indian Hill Middle School has amazing students, which makes my job joyful each day. I am committed to finding an innovative way to use this generous award to further our inclusive practices.”

In addition to Gemmel’s award, the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation is awarding $1,000 to the Indian Hill School District in August to be applied to classroom use.

According to their website, the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation has made grants of over $150 million to date. Today, it continues to provide over $3 million each year to support PK-12 education throughout Ohio, using three complementary strategies: grantmaking, thought-partner convening, and honoring the teaching profession.
