Strategic Planning Update: Students at the center

Strategic Planning Meeting

To see our students in action is the stuff we, as educators, dream about – it is amazing. To see our students in action interacting with our parents and our community members as part of the development of our District strategic plan – WOW!

As the superintendent of schools, my mind was blown during our latest round of engagement the week of November 8, as we took another step forward in the development of our new strategic plan by inviting in partners – including our students – for four sessions; two in-person and two virtual. These groups analyzed the work that has happened to develop our plan so far and to offer feedback. During these sessions, our students were the absolute stars of the show and really helped all team members stay focused on why we are doing this important work.

And the work has been inclusive and amazing. Let’s look at some of the engagement numbers:

• 2,200 survey responses (87 alumni)
• 22 student focus groups across all four campuses
• 8 community stakeholder events
• 54 people invited to future community events

Our next meetings take place at the end of November. We are on time and on track to deliver our new Indian Hill School District Strategic Plan to our Board of Education this December.

To every member of our Brave Family who has given us the gift of time to be a part of this journey with us – thank you. And to the amazing students who dedicated time this week to help guide our decisions and direction – thank you.

Our students are our future; rest assured, we are in excellent hands.

In service to our students,

Kirk Koennecke
Superintendent
Indian Hill School District
