The Indian Hill School District in partnership with MSA Design is proud to announce that three of our joint projects have been recognized in Learning By Design’s Fall 2024 Architecture and Interior Design Awards of Excellence. This prestigious honor highlights exemplary educational environments that foster innovation and enhance student experiences across the PK-12 spectrum.
“These award-winning designs are the result of the investment our community made into our buildings from inception to completion,” said Indian Hill CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. “Our partners at MSA Design helped orchestrate countless meetings with all stakeholders – including valuable input from our students and staff – to create learning centers that are simply unparalleled, and we are thrilled with this national recognition.”
The latest edition of Learning By Design features 92 entries, evaluated by a distinguished panel of six architects and education facility professionals based on criteria such as Design Challenges and Innovation, Sustainability and Social Impact, and Functional Design. MSA Design’s commitment to creating transformative learning spaces has earned us recognition for our work on the new Primary School, Elementary School, and Middle School, all designed to support current and future educational initiatives.
Key achievements of the recognized projects include:

• A new main entry addition that transforms the school’s identity, improving security and accessibility.
• Awarded the prestigious STEM designation from the state of Ohio thanks to innovative learning spaces that inspire curiosity and engagement.
• Features such as a custom-built sensory playhouse and reimagined dining commons that encourage exploration and interaction.
Indian Hill Elementary School:
• Renovations that expanded arts and recreational spaces while supporting STEM and project-based learning.
• New facilities include art studios, a state-of-the-art STEM lab, and a flexible multi-purpose space, fostering creativity and collaboration.
• The design emphasizes connections to nature through ample natural light and outdoor access, improving the health and well-being of students and staff.
Indian Hill Middle School:
• A complete new-build aimed at enhancing safety and supporting innovative learning pedagogies.
• Features flexible classrooms, modern art studios, and communal spaces, centered around a hub known as ‘The Village Green’ for student collaboration.
