Indian Hill High School Digital Lab Room 116 is full of celebration. On the regular, instructor Ricardo Hill is snapping photos and sharing student success: high school students enrolled in Computer Science Pro earning professional certifications in Cyber Security, Software Development, Data Science, Web Development, and Artificial Intelligence.
“We are not only preparing our students for the technical demands of the future, but also empowering them to become innovators in a rapidly evolving digital landscape,” explained Hill.
The students enrolled in Computer Science Pro first took an introductory course in Computer Science. The advanced course begins with students obtaining a Cyber Security Certification; from that initial certification, students explore their respective focus areas. Each student studies at a self-directed pace.
“By allowing them to work at their own pace, we ensure that each student can deeply engage with their chosen field, building a solid foundation that will support their lifelong learning and career success,” said Hill.
“This class is important for my future,” said Indian Hill High School Computer Science Pro student Jim Liebel. In his junior year, Liebel is already planning to be career-ready. “Getting certifications is the door to great job opportunities and success.”
“Our students are ready to lead now, and Computer Science Pro is about embedding educational opportunities within our high school experience that prepares them to do just that,” said Indian Hill High School Principal Andy Gruber. “This both complements and expands our focus of real-world learning experience into a realm of real-world expertise; we are extremely excited about what the future holds for both our students and this new program.”
