Indian Hill Athletics announces tennis program directors

Tennis Directors

The Indian Hill School District is excited to announce the future of Indian Hill High School tennis. Michael Piergalski will lead the Braves boys tennis program, and Brian Schubert will lead the Braves girls tennis program. Each state champion coach will serve as program director for their respective departments.

“We have been exceptionally pleased with both boys and girls tennis, and we were looking for the right fit to continue to build upon the solid foundation of excellence already established,” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Brian Phelps. “We know both these fantastic, proven coaches will serve as a professional support for each other as program directors.”

Michael Piergalski has coached tennis for 20 years with six of those years at Indian Hill. During this time, Piergalski has been a part of multiple state championship teams. He is uniquely qualified to coach the Indian Hill High School varsity team after serving at every level of the program. Additionally, Piergalski has served as an instructor for Heritage Tennis Club in the Chicago suburbs, and after graduating from Miami University, he became a Professional Tennis Registry certified instructor. Piergalski also served as the varsity head coach at Beechwood High School before moving to Indian Hill. In addition to his coaching role, he is a member of the Indian Hill High School faculty, teaching English.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to lead the Indian Hill boys tennis program and a privilege to coach alongside Brian Schubert and Adam Wolter,” said Piergalski. “I think I speak for all the players and parents in expressing my gratitude to Coach Wade Ward for everything he’s done for the program. I’m excited for the future of our tennis program and — most of all — to start working hard to build on our tradition of success. The spring season can’t come soon enough.”

Brian Schubert comes to Indian Hill High School after more than 10 years at Cincinnati Country Day School, where he has been a coach for two team state titles, five state final fours, and nine individual state championships. Schubert was an All-Conference Performer for Xavier University’s first ever NCAA Tournament Qualifying Men’s Tennis Team. He has been a speaker and panelist for United States Tennis Association, United States Professional Tennis Association, and Ohio High School Tennis Conferences in the past and works as a fulltime coach at Five Seasons Sports Club, where he is the Director of Junior Tennis for one of the nation’s top producers of collegiate tennis players. He is also currently the Director of Tennis for the Cincinnati Tennis Foundation, a 501(c)3 that is growing the sport through tennis and education in the community.

“I am excited to join what many consider to be the most prestigious high school tennis program in the state,” said Schubert. “A great team was already in place and hopefully we can continue to take the program to even greater heights over the next several years.”
