#BRAVEminds – January events for Brave parents
Erica Leppert
An integral part of maintaining #BRAVEMinds is parent education and support. There is an overwhelming amount of parenting advice and information available to us on the internet, in the media, and in everyday conversation with other parents. As part of our #IHPromise to you and your child, the Indian Hill School District strives to provide opportunities for parents to engage in experiences with experts in the fields of education, psychology, and the youth and adolescent brain.

Two such opportunities are available in January.

The first, on Monday, January 14, is a presentation by Dr. Stuart Slavin. This will be held at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Sabin Auditorium (3333 Burnet Avenue) at 6:00 p.m.  Dr. Slavin will discuss the environmental factors contributing to the increase in teen mental illness and what parents and educators can do about it.  Click here to register to attend this presentation.

The second opportunity will take place at Indian Hill High School on Thursday, January 24 at 5:00 p.m., with a screening of the documentary Race to Nowhere in the High School Cafeteria. Dinner will be provided at 6:30 p.m., and parents will have the opportunity to engage in facilitated discussion groups about the movie. An additional daytime screening opportunity will take place on Tuesday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m., at the Middle School. If neither of these screening opportunities work for your schedule, the movie is also available on Amazon for digital download.  To RSVP for this presentation, please click here.
