Indian Hill students receive national art recognition

The Indian Hill School District congratulates two Indian Hill High School (IHHS) students, junior Lynn Choi, and sophomore Anderson Cannady for earning silver medals in the national Scholastic Art Competition. Choi and Cannady were two of 15 Braves who made it to the national level of the competition.

“I was shocked that my work was even considered at the regional level – shocked to think my artwork is that good,” said IHHS student Anderson Cannady. “That photo took me three weeks, and others tried to talk me into giving up; it was a technical challenge. Good thing I didn’t give up.”

“I realized that you don’t have to do traditional photography to make interesting art,” said IHHS student Lynn Choi. “I didn’t really like taking pictures so I thought about what else I could do in the darkroom, and I tried experimenting with Photograms instead.”

“All of our student-artists show great innovation and creativity; we had 46 regional winners in the Scholastic Art juried show,” said Indian Hill High School art teacher Julie Pfeiffer. “The artworks awarded Gold Keys advanced to New York for the national jurying. To have two of our student-artists recognized at this level is an amazing accomplishment. We are incredibly proud of what these students have achieved.”

Choi and Cannady have been recognized among 2,700 high school artists nationwide.
