Indian Hill High School celebrates student-athletes with signing ceremony
IHHS Athletic SigningIt was standing room only at Indian Hill High School (IHHS) as four student-athletes made official their commitment to continue both their academic and athletic careers during a signing ceremony Wednesday, February 27. Family and friends joined IHHS seniors Rohan Bagli, Ben Bayless, Johnny Bultema, and Claire deHamel for the celebration.

“Our student-athletes are both incredible competitors and outstanding people,” said IHHS Athletic Director Matt Haskamp. “It is heartwarming to see our Brave family come out to show their support; we are all so proud of what these students-athletes have achieved, and we are excited about what they will achieve in their futures.”

Rohan Bagli – Squash, George Washington University
Rohan Bagli has been playing competitive squash throughout the United States since 2012. Currently he is ranked No. 58 in the country under the age of 19. He is the first Indian Hill High School student-athlete to commit to playing squash competitively at the college level.

“I am happy I get to continue my hard work, my persistence, and love for the game at George Washington University,” said Bagli.

Ben Bayless – Cross Country and Track, University of Dayton
Ben Bayless is a Top 10 Senior in Ohio; he is a three-time CHL Runner of the Year; a three-time District Runner of the Year; he was the 2018 Regional Runner of the Year. Additionally, Bayless earned six-time All-Academic Ohio; six-time All-Academic Conference; four-time All-Ohio Athlete; seven-time State Qualifier; sixth place in the State Competition as a senior; and was twice name Runner of the Year in Southwest Ohio.

“I am honored that I get to continue to showcase the values Indian Hill has instilled in me at the Division One level,” said Bayless. “I’m grateful for all of the support from the Indian Hill community; it’s a blessing and has helped motivate me to attain my goals.”

Johnny Bultema – Basketball, Wheaton College
Johnny Bultema served as the Varsity Captain for Basketball his senior year and was named a Prep Hoops Top Senior in the City, and First Team All CHL this season. He currently is eighth in the CHL in scoring; ninth in the CHL for rebounds; and sixth in the CHL for blocks. As a junior, he earned Second Team All CHL, and Special Mention All City. 

“Playing college basketball has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember,” said Bultema. “Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for all of the time and resources you have given up to help me get to this point. Thankful that God has blessed me with the opportunity to play basketball at Wheaton College!”

Claire deHamel – Soccer, University of Indianapolis
Claire deHamel is a two-time State Soccer Champion; First Team All-Southwest District; Second Team All-State Senior; and All-Star Game Southwest District.

“I want to thank my friends, coaches, mentors, and family for supporting me in everything I do; especially my dad for being my number one fan and constantly pushing me to be my best,” said deHamel.
