Indian Hill to implement Plan C remote learning model beginning December 7

IH Logo

The decision has been made to begin our Plan C full remote learning model effective Monday, December 7, and we will remain in five-day-a-week remote learning following our two-week winter recess from Monday, January 4 through Friday, January 8.

This decision was not made lightly; please allow me to elaborate.

Our top priority is always the well-being of our students and our staff. As a District, we are concerned with the number of absent students K-12. The number of quarantine students and absences (both COVID-19 related and non-COVID-19 related combined) K-12 is more than 13 percent of our current on-campus student population. This creates stress on quality instruction for all students. We cannot adequately service all of our absent students within the current Brave Virtual Academy model, especially at the secondary level.

Additionally, quarantines and absences have had serious impact on our staff levels across the District straining our operations impacting both classroom instruction as well as District transportation.

We want to make this transition as smoothly as possible for your family.

Please see the details of our operations within Plan C below, which are also available on our COVID-19 District Operations 2020-2021 School Year web resource located within the “Students & Parents” section of our District website. Should you have any specific questions, please contact your building principal.

Please note: The switch to remote learning means campus will be closed during Plan C, and Indian Hill will continue to pause on all regularly scheduled athletics and activities.

We will continue to closely watch and assess the COVID-19 situation during the upcoming weeks and provide you timely updates. Again, you will return in Plan C Monday, January 4, 2021. You can expect another communication about our plan operations by January 7, 2021. As always, we appreciate your partnership as we navigate these unprecedented times.

In service to our children,

Kirk Koennecke
Superintendent
Indian Hill School District

Plan C Schedule
In Plan C, all students who were enrolled in the in-person model will report to class in a distance learning model five days per week. Students will not be assigned to Team 1 and Team 2. The same teachers will deliver distance instruction to students as they do in Plan A and Plan B.

Technology
Students in grades K-7 should already have a district Chromebook assigned for their regular use and will continue to use those devices during Plan C instruction. Students in grade 8-12 will continue to use their personal device during Plan C instruction.

Brave Virtual Academy
Students in Brave Virtual Academy will remain within this program with no changes to their educational programming.

Indian Hill Lunch Request
Indian Hill is working hard to ensure that all students of the Indian Hill School District 1-18 years old, regardless of their situation, have food to eat. Students enrolled in Brave Virtual Academy still have access to our school lunch program. You can also request lunch for the days you are not learning in-person at school while the District is operating in Plan C (remote learning). There is no cost for anyone receiving lunch through this program.

If you opt for lunch delivery service and you have not already registered to receive it, you will need to click here to sign up. We will be in touch shortly with details about delivery.
