Indian Hill High School students head to State HOSA Competition

HOSA State-Bound IHHS Students

Indian Hill High School (IHHS) congratulates the six IHHS students who have qualified for the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Competition in April. HOSA is a national medical competitive club that helps students explore the healthcare field through different mediums such as art, public speaking, writing, and more. The students advanced to state from the regional competition. One student who will compete at the state level, Pranav Rastogi, is the founder of the IHHS chapter. Rastogi established the club at IHHS this school year.

“The pandemic we're living through has opened up an avenue through which we can explore the healthcare field through this club,” said Rastogi. “I've learned a lot not only about medicine from multiple aspects but also about how to lead and collaborate with others to bring them the same sense of awareness and further their interest in this field. I'm excited to see us compete at state and can't wait for future competitions and more successes.”

“I’m very proud and excited for these students as they have embraced this new competition and earned a chance to advance to the state competition,” said Dave Broxterman, IHHS teacher and club advisor. “Pranav has done a wonderful job leading our team and making this opportunity possible."

The IHHS students who competed at the HOSA Regional Competition and advanced to the state competition included:
• Vandita Rastogi & Emily Sichel (First - Community Awareness Team)
• Connor Coffman & Pranav Rastogi (Second - Forensic Science Team)
• Hannah Mactaggart (Third - Biomedical Lab Science)
• Hannah Tran (Fourth - Medical Math)

HOSA Chapters across Ohio are divided into seven distinct regions that competed independently in the regional competition. The top four competitors in each event at the regional competition earned a spot at the state competition.
