HISTORY MAKING STATE CHAMPIONS!

IHHS State Champions

February 21 in Canton, Ohio, Indian Hill High School history was made!

Braves won the 2020 Division II Boys State Championship – our first-ever boys swimming and diving state title. Indian Hill also earned the 200 Free Relay State Championship; the relay team consisted of Gibson Holmes, Dan Edmonson, Devin Edwards and Will Taylor, and Indian Hill High School freshman Gibson Holmes brought home the 100 Fly State Champion title as well. Additionally, the Indian Hill High School Girls Swim and Dive Team finished fourth in the state.

“The accomplishments achieved by these two teams have made this season the most successful and historic in our long proud history of swimming and diving,” said Indian Hill Athletic Director Matt Haskamp. “This run was truly historic, and our Braves competed with passion and exhibited true sportsmanship. Our student-athletes are champions because their actions, commitment to each other, and pure focus enabled them to unleash their talent for the entire state to see.”

“I am so impressed by this team!” said Indian Hill High School Swim Coach Matt Harrison. “Even with such high expectations placed on us, we never backed down from a challenge. We came together as a team and accomplished everything we set out to do! My No. 1 goal was to have a team of which this community could be proud, and I think we did that!”

Indian Hill High School invited the community to celebrate the student-athletes at a special ceremony Tuesday, February 25; the Board of Education will recognize the State Champion team at their regularly scheduled meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Indian Hill High School Multipurpose Room. All are welcome to attend.
