STUDENT FOR A DAY: A series about being Brave

Whitney Buell with student during shadow experience

What is the true experience for an Indian Hill School District student?

That was the question I asked my team during an administrative retreat to plan for the 2019-2020 school year. In truth, being new to the District, I did not know the answer, and wanted to find out. It was a robust conversation that ensued about the exceptional educational services we provide as a District, and we decided to continue the sharing that began at the retreat right into the new school year. As such, the summer retreat ended with some homework for our administrators. Each building principal agreed to an assignment for the start of the 2019-2020 school year – to be a student for two days. The first shadow experience is with a student in the building they serve; the second is spent with a student at another building within the Indian Hill School District.

So, what is the true Brave experience?

You are about to find out. This series, STUDENT FOR A DAY, captures the learning that resulted from the shadowing. Shared directly from our building leaders, you will see the activities they were involved in, the impact the experience had on them as educational leaders, and what they learned from their experiences.

This is keeping our students at the center of our work. This is Brave learning. We are excited to share this shadow experience with you.

In service to our children,
Kirk Koennecke
