MARCH 18 UPDATE: Indian Hill School District Launches Distance Learning Resource

IH Logo

Braves:

We are ready.

Following the important March 13 distance learning practice day, and using this week to refine our online educational practices, our faculty is excited to reconnect with you and your student when we begin our distance learning March 31, following the scheduled time off for Spring Break. Each building has used the information learned during the practice event to finalize plans for distance learning, and has developed instructional plans that should work both immediately and long-term, if needed. Those building-level instructions, tech support resources, staff contact information, and curated educational resources for your family, are all contained in our new Distance Learning Resource. This important resource – which is accessible from our District website under “Students & Parents” – will continue to evolve and provide you with the latest tools you need for a successful distance learning experience.

Clearly communicating expectations is critical during this time of evolving educational practices. Below is a quick visual snapshot for you to review to better understand how distance learning looks, in practice, by building (click the image to expand the view):

Please note: Staff workdays are from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Email communication will be regularly maintained, and voice mails will be answered. Educational activities, in general, are designed to be flexible for your family’s schedule. Teachers may devote some specific time to establish virtual gatherings of students to maintain social and emotional connection; those opportunities will be communicated directly from teachers. In addition, teachers will be working on content delivery, content creation, colleague collaboration, and providing student feedback on progress.

For additional information, please see the video presentation below.

As a general reminder, please continue to monitor the District website for the latest school-related information as this situation unfolds. Click here to access our Coronavirus Information webpage, which will provide you with the most recent announcements, and provide you helpful CDC reference links.

We love your student. Your student’s well-being is our top priority. Should you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Grateful to be a part of our Brave family,

Melissa A. Stewart, Ed.D.
