Braves use the Power of the Pen to create award-winning stories

IHMS Power of the Pen

Indian Hill Middle School (IHMS) congratulates the seven Braves who participated in the Power of the Pen Regional Tournament held at Wyoming Middle School on Saturday, March 16. Indian Hill writers competed along with 25 other schools including 150 writers. Braves demonstrated their expertise in and passion for writing producing an outstanding 21 original stories throughout the course of the competition. IHMS earned Superior ratings from 10 judges and Honors ratings from 30 judges.

“We want to let our writers know we are proud of their hard work and for taking a risk in sharing their writing with others this weekend; sharing stories takes courage, and what our Braves accomplished is simply incredible!” said IHMS teacher Dr. Kim Given, who helps coach the students.

IHMS student Keegan Sheanshang placed 10th overall, and student Maria Nath placed 11th overall within the competition. IHMS students Sophia Chen, Maria Nath, and Keegan Sheanshang all came in first place in one of their three writing rounds. IHMS participants included: Sophia Chen, Amelia Decker, Maria Nath, Keegan Sheanshang, Michelle Fu, Joy On, and Elsa Zhou.
