Indian Hill scores a perfect 10 at Blue Chip Awards

2019 IHHS Blue Chip Awards

Indian Hill High School (IHHS) congratulates all 28 Braves who were nominated as part of the annual Blue Chip Awards. IHHS took home 10 awards during the ceremony at the Redmoor in Mt. Lookout Square Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

IHHS senior Owen Norwell took home two awards – one for a documentary he co-produced on Indian Hill’s Greenacres, and a second award for his work to live stream sporting events broadcast by Indian Hill Television Network (IHTN).

“For some people, it is not always apparent how the things they are learning and doing in school can be applied in the real world,” said Norwell. “Having a project that you worked on for school win an award in a regional competition is a great way to connect those two worlds.”

Junior Sailor Betts also won two awards - a Blue Chip for a story she produced showcasing the new Indian Hill Elementary School Innovation Lab, and a second award as co-producer of an episode of Braves Beat in the “informative talk or news” category.

“It was such a great experience to see the work of so many fellow students be recognized outside of the school community!” said Betts.

Betts had a fan club in the audience. Her mother, Sally O’Hara was there cheering her on, “It was a wonderful ceremony, like a local Emmy awards, complete with hosts, refreshments, trailers of each winning film, and acceptance speeches. The professional category was surely an inspiration to our aspiring Indian Hill High School students.”

“Our Indian Hill High School teacher Dennis Dupps is an amazing champion and encourager for so many Braves who want to learn media and film skills,” said Cathy LeValley, Owen Norwell’s mother, who also attended the event. “I am always proud of how our students perform at the Blue Chip Awards because of his guidance!”

“It was another amazing year for our video students,” said Dupps. “Our students work very hard all year long, and this event provides recognition from our Greater Cincinnati community for a job well done.”

The complete list of Blue Chip Award winners from Indian Hill High School included: seniors Owen Norwell (2) and Lena Bruscato, senior Ethan Hornsby (2), senior Dennis Davis, junior Sailor Betts (2), junior Jake Sumerel, sophomore Robert Brunner (2) and Barbara Watson (teacher), Zachary Young (Class of 2018 graduate), Jeff Clark (teacher), Kitsa Rhoad (Indian Hill Foundation), and Dennis Dupps (2).
