Indian Hill Middle School student achieves perfect score on National Latin Exam

Indian Hill Middle School (IHMS) congratulates student Sophia Chen for being one of 442 students internationally to achieve a perfect score on the 2019 Introduction to Latin National Latin Exam.

“What an incredible distinction to attain,” said IHMS Principal Jennifer Ulland. “We are so proud of Sophia, and congratulate her on this honor. Latin is offered to Indian Hill Middle School students beginning in grade six, with advanced courses at Indian Hill High School. We are excited to see how Sophia continues to grow and develop in her Latin studies.”

More than 22,000 students participated in the exam; those students represented the United States, Australia, Belize, Canada, China, France, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, the Solomon Islands, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe.

“This is one example of the District’s strategic focus on Global Competence in action,” said Indian Hill Assistant Superintendent Dr. Melissa Stewart. “We strive to prepare our students to understand and prosper in a diverse global community. Sophia is a standout Latin student, and we have no doubt about her future success.”
