VIDEO INCLUDED: The State of our Schools

An ACT composite score six points above the national average; 21 students recognized by the National Merit program; a World Champion Mock Trial Team; more than 40,000 hours donated by High School Braves for service learning opportunities; student involvement in 80-plus clubs and activities with 94 percent student participation at the High School; a Best Community for Music Education as awarded by the National Association of Music Merchants; State Champion athletic teams – this is what it means to be Brave. From our Gold Medal Award by U.S. News & World Report to our No. 6 national ranking by Niche as one of the best public school district’s in the country – our academic trophy case is a reflection of our entire team’s dedication to delivering exceptional educational services to ensure the intellectual development, personal growth, and social responsibility of each student.

Each student.

Each student enters our doors – from our Primary School to our High School with a dream for his or her future. A future that will be built upon the foundation we provide; a future that will be explored through unparalleled opportunities they receive during their tenure as Braves in academics, the arts, and athletics. A future that depends on the continued support of the amazing community we call home.

Thank you for investing in our mission.

Each student is authoring a unique story; it is up to us to help them craft an amazing chapter each year. We author this story of success so unique to our District because of an experienced and award-winning teaching staff; small class sizes for more individualized instruction; and so much more. In addition, Indian Hill is one of an elite number of high schools approved to offer the challenging AP Capstone – focusing on critical thinking, in-depth research, collaboration, and communication. We have a team of five award-winning professionals within our High School Counseling Department supporting our Braves through the college application process.

This is the State of our Schools.

We have a vision of Enduring Excellence in Learning, Leadership, Innovation, and Service … for that vision to truly endure – we need to continue to partner with you for the future. As we have shared with you through our open and transparent Facilities Assessment Task Force process – we have capital needs across the District including security challenges we can’t ignore and an aging Middle School that presents multiple challenges to properly maintain. We also have operational needs. The District hasn’t asked for additional revenue for operations from our taxpayers since 1993. Our expenses are now outpacing our revenue. We continue to reevaluate our operational needs. We will be forming a Finance Committee and have established a Steering Committee to continue the work that was started by our Facilities Assessment Task Force.

The State of our Schools is one of opportunity – opportunity to dream; opportunity to plan; opportunity to build the foundation we need to make the dreams we have for our students – for their futures – a reality.

Thank you for giving us the gift of your time. As always – we appreciate your investment.

Sincerely,
Mark T. Miles, Ph.D.
