THE SENIOR EXPERIENCE: Homecoming

Homecoming Powder Puff

It is one of the busiest and best weeks of the year: Homecoming. It is a week to celebrate what an amazing school we get to be a part of. Although many think of Homecoming as just a dance or just a football game, this week encompasses so much more than that. For many seniors like me, this year’s Homecoming represents the beginning of the end of our time in high school. For many, this week is one of the best of the year, centered around the football game and the dance. The football game is one of the most important events of the year: a crowded student section; cheering until we can no longer speak; nominating our homecoming court; and getting to support our school in one of the best ways possible. Homecoming week aims to bring classes closer together, working on inducting the freshmen into the school while giving the seniors a chance to reminisce and show their school spirit. Most of all, this week represents tradition.

Next year we’ll go off to college, they’ll replicate a homecoming dance, the homecoming game, but nothing will compare to your last one with your high school family. The best thing about Homecoming is looking back on your past years and remembering that those dances were some of the best moments in your high school lives, knowing that this was our last made it all that much better. For many seniors, our last high school homecoming is something we will remember forever. This week is one where many reminisce on our last fleeting moments of high school. Although college is a daunting prospect in our future, moments like these make students like me proud to say we come from a school like Indian Hill. Next year, after we’ve all gone our separate ways, this week is one that I’ll look back on and remember the best years of my life.
