After graduating from IHHS in 1959, Jim received a BA from Yale and a law degree from Vanderbilt. He then spent two years in the Army (1966-68), one of those years in Viet Nam, serving as a Captain. Returning to Cincinnati, he joined Taft, Stettinius & Hollister, becoming a partner.  Anderson may best be known as President and CEO of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center from 1996 – 2009. He was Board Chair for 4 years prior to that and had been on the board since 1979. He was a key figure in shaping the extraordinary growth at the medical center, making it one of the top centers in the nation, and retired in 2009.

He has served on numerous business boards, including being Chairman of the National Stock Exchange Inc., as well as civic Boards such as the Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disorders, Hamilton County Regional Airport Authority and the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  He also served as the Mayor of Indian Hill from 1987 – 1989.

Jenifer Ferris Faulkner    Brave Service Award

Jenifer Ferris Faulkner - Class of 1978 - Watch Tribute Video

After graduating Miami with a BS in business, Jenifer worked at Bartlett Company, an investment management firm and rose to the level of partner. While working, she completed her MBA from UC in 1984.  From there, she was a founding partner of a life insurance and full service investment company, Financial Dimensions. After starting a family, she turned her energy to community service. She served numerous volunteer leadership roles for IH schools. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for 13 years, even while battling cancer, committed to seeing her troop complete the highest rank of the Gold Award.

She was extremely active at Armstrong Chapel, serving for many years on the finance committee where she audited the church books and taxes.  She also led “Operation Christmas Child,” a program sending care boxes to children in third world countries. Jenifer managed this for several years, growing its impact every year. Her final year, just weeks before passing, Jenifer organized a packing party and manned it from her wheel chair.  For the Indian Hill Public Schools Foundation (IHPSF), she was a PTO representative in 2009 and served as Treasurer from 2010 to 2014.  Her husband, Ray, and three children will accept the honor on Jenifer's behalf.

Doug Feigelson       Young Brave Award

Doug Feigelson - Class of 2010 - Watch Tribute Video

Even while a student at IHHS, Doug was using his unconventional thinking and superior computer coding skills to help raise funds for IHPSF.  He devised a coding system for online retail sales that would find the lowest price and in that small margin, also take a percentage and give it to charities. He developed this same strategy while an undergrad at MIT and developed it into his current tech business, Zinc Technologies, Inc. in the San Francisco area. He works with online stores such as Walmart, Macy’s and Target as well as Amazon.com.  A percentage of the profits earned are committed to charities – one of which is the IHPSF.  Feigelson is also helping startup entrepreneurs in Africa and has contributed significant finances and resources to this cause.  At a young age, Doug is already making a big impact in the tech world and beyond.  He will continue to be a “Brave to watch” over the years.
